Summer Quest 2020

Princes and princesses, knights and ladies, fairies and giants, wizards and witches… Pine River Library is inviting all of you to join us for an enchanting quest this summer!

These last few months have been pretty strange, right? Here at the library, we sure have missed all of you so much. We know everyone is missing their friends and family too! Because we can’t be together in the same ways as we usually are and because we all need a little magic in our lives right now, this Summer Pine River Library is sending you all on a quest with fantastical challenges that you and your family can complete together at home or close to home.

Our theme for this year’s summer program is “Imagine Your Story,” so we’re taking inspiration from our favorite tales, legends, myths, and fantasy worlds to challenge everyone to read, laugh, play, learn, and spread love (and not germs) this summer.

Here are a few examples of the tasks the whole family can try their hands at:

If you are adventurous there are challenges like:

  • Take a bite of Snow White’s apple… eat something either new or that you think you hate!

  • Brave the enchanted swamp- go play at Riverside Park

If you are courageous you can:

  • Tame a dragon… spend some time playing with your pet!

  • Defend the helpless… perform an act of kindness.

If you just want to enjoy the stories:

  • Share a tale… read a book to someone else!

  • Get lost in a tale… share all the books you read or were read to you in July.

There will also a take and make craft and activity kits available by request that will help you complete the challenges, including card making, catapult building, crown decorating, shield making and more.

And what do you get for completing the challenges? This summer you are questing for GEMS! You earn gems or for completing a challenge and turning in your filled out packet to the library at the end of July…and you can earn EXTRA gems by tagging us in pictures of your questing on social media using the hashtag #PRLSummerQuest. And each gem equals an entry in our drawing for fun prizes including gift cards to local businesses and book bundles!

Want to join the fun? You’ll be able to pick up a paper copy of the Summer Quest Packet at the library, request a  Packet via mail, or download your own to print at home from our website… Our Summer Reading Program will run from July 1st through July 31st and materials should be available at the end of June.
