Summer Quest 2020

Princes and princesses, knights and ladies, fairies and giants, wizards and witches… Pine River Library is inviting you all to join us for an enchanting quest this summer!

These last few months have been pretty strange, right? Here at the library, we sure have missed you all so much. We know everyone is missing their friends and family too! Because we can’t be together in the same ways as we usually are and because we all need a little magic in our lives right now, this summer Pine River Library is sending everyone on a quest with fantastical challenges that you and your family can complete together at home or close to home during the month of July.

Our theme for this year’s summer program is “Imagine Your Story,” so we’re taking inspiration from our favorite tales, legends, myths, and fantasy worlds to challenge everyone to read, laugh, play, learn, and spread love (and not germs) this summer.

The quest is made up of challenges ranging from reading books (by yourself or out loud to someone else) to visiting local outdoor adventure spots. You can “defend the helpless” by performing an act of kindness or “tame your dragon” by playing with your pet. Learn from Hansel and Gretel’s mistake by eating a healthy meal or take a bite of Snow White’s apple and try a new food! Take-and-make craft and activity kits that help you complete certain challenges will also be available by request, including card making, catapult building, crown decorating, shield making, and more. When you return your packet to the library the first week in August, you’ll receive one prize drawing entry per challenge completed. Prizes include gift certificates to local businesses and book bundles.

There are also weekly virtual programs that include stories, songs, crafts, and STEAM activities for different age groups ranging from babies to age 12, with full details and scheduling included in your packet. Visit our Summer Quest Virtual Programs page for fun videos and handouts for each program.

Want to join the fun? You’ll can pick up a paper copy of the Summer Quest Packet at the library (Noon-6 pm, Monday-Friday and 10 am-2 pm Saturday) starting the week of June 22. You can also call us at 970.884.2222 ext. 1 or email us at pod@prlibrary.org to request a paper copy via mail.  To download the packet to print at home, click the button below.
