Earth Week Film Screening: Bag It Documentary

Did you know that Americans use 60,000 plastic bags every five minutes?

Bayfield High School Earth Club and the Library will be hosting a showing of the 2010 documentary Bag It, which tells the story of Jeb Berrier, a regular American man, who made a pledge to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store and how life completely changed in the process. Jeb's journey in this documentary film starts with simple questions: Are plastic bags really necessary? What are plastic bags made from? What happens to plastic bags after they are discarded? Jeb looks beyond plastic bags and discovers that virtually everything in modern society-from baby bottles, to sports equipment, to dental sealants, to personal care products-is made with plastic or contains potentially harmful chemical additives used in the plastic-making process.

This event is free to the public but there will to opportunites to purchase items from Chico Bags (reusable shopping bags and other sustainable products) as a donation to the club's project to start a library in Africa.
